Eternally Yours

Eternally Yours

Disclaimer: I do not own nor did I create the charcters from the Law & Order: Criminal Intent series. I did create the extra characters that were needed for the story. This is purely for entertainment only. This is my story..............

Chapter one
The morning sun peeked through the blinds causing Robert Goren to moan. His naked chest glistened with sweat. The summer heat had come early, and Goren groaned as he tried to avoid the ruthless rays of sunshine. Covering his lower anatomy was a thin top sheet, which only served to heat his body move. His air conditioner had broken last summer and he could not seem to find the time to search for a new one, so he laid on his bed, soaked in sweat and debated whether he should rise and face the humidity or hide in his closet. The latter made him smile.
He rolled reluctantly out of bed and headed to the bathroom. Apparently nature called, and now relieved, he turned the shower on. Shunning his boxers, he stepped into the cool water as it cascaded against his skin. Soaping his naked body with a manly type bath wash, he allowed a few moments of enjoyment, before rinsing the lather. Grabbing a towel, he dried all the creases and took extra care between his legs.

He remembered the night before, the passion he felt finally being in woman's arm. But the love making had left him spent and tender. He shook his head, no way am I complaining, he thought, as he walked naked back to his bedroom to put on the stifling day's wardrobe.

He started to adjust his tie, when his cell rang its familiar tune. Without looking to see who it was, he answered singing, "good morning."

"I take it your date went rather well," a female voice on the other end said.

"You downstairs?" he asked, avoiding the statement.

"Yes, waiting as usual." Her voice hinted a smile.

He tucked the phone back into his pocket and combed his scruffy hair. He rubbed his chin, thinking he needed a shave, but he was running late again and decided that could wait. Grabbing his gun and badge, he strolled down the steps and headed to where his partner, Alex Eames was waiting.

He smiled at her, a smile that only confirmed that his date last night was a success. She smiled to herself, happy that Goren had finally got some. Now, maybe he won't be such a prick, she thought. She pulled out of the parking space and headed to Major Case.
Goren's car had been totaled in an accident and Eames was picking him up for work. A few weeks earlier, a truck had run a red light and smashed into his passenger side. Goren was lucky, but his car had paid the ultimate price. Death by vehicle - in other words - vehicular car murder.

Goren was grateful for Eames, because without her, he would have to go back to using the subway. His body was still sore and lastnight's rendezvous only added to the stiffness.

"I'm getting old," he muttered as he flopped intohis chair at his desk.

Eames only smiled as she too sat down.

"Have I told you how grateful I am?" he asked, playing with a yellow envelope that was sitting on his leather notebook.

"Not today yet, but only a hundred times yesterday. You are slowing down, Bobby." She smiled at him.
He graoned at her, still playing with the envelope. He flipped it over and wondered what the contents were inside. It felt thin and didn't seem to have much in it. It was simply addressed, Goren, with no postage. It had to be hand delivered.

"What's that?" Alex asked him.

"Don't know. It was just sitting here." Bobby took the corner, ripped it opened and dropped the contents onto his desk. A folded white paper was all that came floating out. Bobby unfolded it and read it. He gave Alex a baffled look as he handed the note to her.

The paper was an ordinary copy paper, but the note was not hand written, it was made from scraps of paper letters. Some were from magazines and some letters were from newpapers. Alex looked at Bobby after she read it, "What does it mean?"

"I don't know," answered Goren. The note simply said I will take from you what you took from me. There was no signature and no return address. "I think someone is trying to mess with my mind." Bobby threw the note into his notebook and tried to dismiss it.

"What did you take from someone?" she asked him.

"Nothing," Bobby looked at her. The note meant nothing to him and no one was going to ruin his day. "Look, don't worry about it. I'm sure it is a prank." Bobby got up and walked to the elevator. "I'm getting some coffee, want some some?" He asked as he stepped onto the elevator.

Alex thought it was strange the way bobby was acting. He didn't even wait for her to answer and besides there was perfectly good coffee at the precinct, so why did he elave to go and get other coffee. She saw the note was still on his desk in his leather notebook, so she took it and walked to Captain Ross' office.
